Liquid Injection Molding (LIM)
Rubber Industries Liquid Injection Molding capabilities include Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) process technology for both clear and colored silicone parts, which provide an expanded option to our current customers and to new prospects.
Rubber Industries utilizes 24 and 37 ton Boy Presses which can handle mold sizes of 10"x12" and a maximum shot size of 68 grams. The molding systems utilize a modular mold base system which is set up to receive cavity blocks of 4"x4", 6"x6", 8"x8" and 11"x10" sizes. This allows customers a substantial savings because they only purchase the cavity block and not the entire mold. (Click here to see sample parts.) LSR is a proprietary name for a range of two-component Liquid Silicone Rubbers used to produce elastic parts by injection molding. Because of its high thermal stability, good rubber-like properties and resistance to aging, LSR is the material of choice by many designers in automotive, electronics, appliance, medical and textile industries. The material has a wide temperature range (-94 degree F to +400 degree F) with low compression set and resistance to the damaging effects of sunlight and ozone. Typical LSR designed components include seals, insulators, diffusers, valves, gaskets and bellows -- to name just a few. Rubber Industries utilizes a dedicated, clean environment in order to appeal to the clean manufacturing requirements of various customers including medical device manufacturers of non-implantable custom molded parts and assemblies. Rubber Industries is more competitive than other molders because of less overhead of sophisticated class 1000 clean room facilities. Many LSR components do not require the extreme cleanliness of an implantable medical component; therefore, Rubber Industries will be filling that type of need. |
